Diacetone alcohol or DAA is an oxygenated solvent derived from acetone which has two alcohol and ketone functionalities.   It is the solvent of choice for many inks and coatings, including coil coatings, wood varnishes, and architectural coatings.  It is also used in the treatment of textiles and leather and is an excellent cleaning solvent.  It is a good solvent for many organic peroxides.

Ethyl DIPROXITOL is a colourless, hygroscopic, high boiling liquid with a mild odour. It is miscible in any proportion with water and many organic solvents and has good solvent power for nitrocellulose and dyestuffs.
It is used as an intermediate and in formulations in industrial, professional or consumer applications, mainly in surface coatings and printing inks and paints, cleaners, agrochemical or de-icing/anti-icing formulations.

Pentanols – 99% (Isoamyl Alcohol)

Isoamyl Alcohol (at a minimum purity of 99%), is a mixture of isomers 3-methyl, 1-butanol and 2-methyl , 1-butanol, with a preponderance of the first (aproximately 85%). The raw material used by PETROM in the production of Isoamyl Alcohol is fusel oil, which in turn is a byproduct of the distilling of ethyl alcohol (ethanol).

Applications: The main applications of Isoamyl Alcohol are:

– the manufacturing of paints and varnishes, to produce isoamyl acetate;

– the manufacturing of plasticizers for the production of DIAP (DiisoAmyl phthalate);

– the manufacturing of perfumes, for the recovery of oils and essences;

– the synthesis of fragrances and aromas;

– the production of isoamyl salicylate, applied widely in soaps and cosmetic fragrances;

– the purification of phosphoric acid, acting as an extraction solvent.

Methyl isobutyl carbinol (MIBC), a high boiling, colourless, stable liquid, is a solvent for ethyl cellulose and certain phenolics as well as many oils, dyes, gums, and natural resins. It is a latent solvent for nitrocellulose. Methyl isobutyl carbinol is miscible with organic solvents, but has only limited solubility in water.

n-Pentane (Hydrocarbons 95%) is an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent. n-Pentane (Hydrocarbons 95%) is suited as a high-purity solvent in crystallization, extraction, HPLC and SMB chromatography processes. Recommended for printing inks applications.

Pentane 80/20 is a blend of 80% n-pentane and 20% isopentane. It is a very fast evaporating hydrocarbon solvent and low in impurities such as sulphur, olefins, benzene and total aromatics. Examples of end uses for this solvent are blowing agent, electronic cleaning and polymerisation.
