Rosin esters are bio-based (from pine rosin) while C9 tackifiers are petroleum-derived. Rosin esters offer better compatibility with certain polymers (EVA, SIS) and are valued in natural/bio-based formulations.

Pentaerythritol rosin esters are available by softening point (typically 80-110°C) and acid number. Lower acid numbers indicate more complete esterification and better stability.

Rosin esters are supplied as solid pastilles or flakes in 25kg bags or big bags. For very large volumes, molten delivery may be available. Standard packaging is bags due to the solid nature at ambient temperature.
